Mayuri Ray has established a place for herself in North America with her distinctive voice, reminding of Lata and Asha. Some of her notable recent performances include duets with playback singer Shurjo Bhattacharya at NABC 2009, concerts with playback singer Abhijit and ‘K for Kishore’ winner Arnab Chakroborty at Dallas, multiple full-house fund raising concert at Phoenix and Houston, to name a few.
Mayuri is trained in Hindustani classical music (Kinara Gharana) at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and under well known gurus in Delhi. A versatile singer, Mayuri sings a wide genre of songs ranging from devotional to Bollywood dhamakas with equal ease. Inspired by advice from none other than Usha Uthup, Mayuri apart from performing in Hindi and Bengali has performed in Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam and Kannad at regional cultural programs.
Sudhakar Gopal has many years of singing experience in various languages including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu and Tamil. He has been training little children in Carnatic and light music for the past several years.
We are a Bengali Association based in Dallas-Forth Worth dedicated
towards cultivating, promoting and celebrating Bengali culture,
and the cultures of India and Bangladesh in general, through various
social and cultural events, and community activities.
Starting in 1999, during the last decade Antorik has created a Bangla School
for the children of the community, and our very own Bengali magazine Stabak.
We also launced Radio Antorik, the only Bengali radio program
in North America.
